"In all chaos, there is a cosmos; in all disorder, a secret order.” This project was inspired by this quote from psychologist Carl Jung and his theory of the shadow and persona. From this starting point, I conducted material and design research, comparing the shadow versus persona concept to a galactic black hole—one that pulls in everything that crosses its path, creating tension between chaos and order.

In this course, we learned how to develop a design concept without relying on any mood boards or imagery. Instead, the concept is created by connecting to a specific experience, feeling, or idea that we want to express through the garment.

As part of the course requirements, we were asked to work with unconventional materials. I chose to experiment with dyeing using materials such as medical iodine and artists' ink. For the suit, I used an acetate fabric typically intended for lining, and manually created texture by heat-setting it affectively turning the known order of a suit inside-out.
